I guide my clients in creating and nurturing world class cultures.
Sometimes you have to start by dealing with the hard stuff, and that’s where I come in. Of course you don't need to have an employee relations issue to talk to me! My initial consultations are always free. Let’s talk about what keeps you up at night and your vision for a better future.
I’m also game to talk skiing, running rivers, finding cool, hidden hiking gems in the PNW, and am always looking for an urban walks partner. I’d love to connect with you!
My
Values
Approachable
I sincerely enjoy meeting and getting to know people. My first goal is always mutual support. As they say, a high tide lifts all ships, and that’s just one of my many mottos! Even in some of the most awkward situations, I help people feel at ease, and am known to be a welcoming and convening presence wherever I go.
Competent
I have over 30 years of professional Human Resources and business management experience, and have held significant leadership roles in a number of non-profit organizations as well. I have a long track record of developing highly successful working cultures and of solving some of the hairiest HR issues.
Trustworthy
I can be relied upon as an honest and trusted partner to you and your team. Situational judgment is one of my most valued characteristics, and is coupled with a deep understanding of the appropriate levels of confidentiality, discretion and transparency.
Authentic
What you see is what you get! I love what I do - it can be hard, but when you get it right the results are super fulfilling. I am a forthright person, whose #1 goal is to seek to understand, and then be understood. Sometimes we have to ask ourselves the tough questions in order to get better, and you will find that I share my thoughts freely but discreetly. The beauty of it is, if you share my values and find that my approach works for you, the foundation is perfectly set for a successful partnership.
Experience & Certifications
I began my HR career in the ski industry as an HR Assistant, and within a few short years was promoted to Staff Development Manager, overseeing the care and nurturing of 1500 seasonal and 50 year round employees. During the following ten years I spent time as the HR Director for a small tech company in Seattle, and at a high end retailer in Woodinville with over 200 employees. Before starting Constructive HR Strategies I spent 16 glorious years with GLY Construction, one of the largest locally owned commercial General Contractors in Washington State. I am also a Past President of the Lake Washington Human Resources Association, and a past board member of Leadership Eastside and the UW Bothell School of Business. Learn more about me here.
My certifications include the Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and the Association for Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (AWI-CH). If you’d like to see me in action, check out my “Workplace Investigations Best Practices” class at the Associated General Contractors of Washington’s Education Foundation.
Difficult and awkward situations are unavoidable when groups of humans work together.
